In Windows Explorer, Detail View, is there a way to remove/disable the additional columns? (ie: Track, Artist, length, etc) I'm a simple person, and only want the main columns displayed, (Size, Type, Date) and Windows 7 seems to ignore me when i change the views. Even the "Reset All", and "Apply to All" seem to be ignored after a day later.

In XP your could remove them from RegEdit under HKCR\SystemFileAssociations and deleting the "Audio", "Video", and "Images" keys, and Explorer would 'forget' how to handle them, and details view would remain the same, but Win7 doesn't seem to respond to this either.

[HELP!!!]

I have a related question, or maybe it's the same question.

In my case, I'm happy with my default folder columns. The problem comes when I want to add a column temporarily. Explorer has about 100 items that it offers when you click "More..." (after right-clicking on a column head). Almost all of them, such as "Home Fax," or "Last year that Cleveland won the pennant," are not usually relevant to what I want to know about a random file. This embarrassment of riches makes it impossible to find the one thing I actually want.

So, my question is, how can I disable the 90% of those that I never want to see offered again? That will probably be in the registry under Explorer somewhere.

Also, since I need to do this on at least 3 machines, and maybe more later, I want to do it NOT interactively, but rather with a .reg file, for example.

Thanks.
