Windows 7 Fails to updates and freezes

I have an Acer Windows 7 32bit that is unable to update and freezes sporadically. I'm desperate for help, please!

try these repair tools for starters
KB947821
Download System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 (KB947821) [October 2014] from Official Microsoft Download Center

then from an elevated command mode

sfc /scannow.

The problem is that the pc freezes in the middle of downloading the tool !!
