Solved Windows 7 Hard Drive Expansion By Dualboot?

Sorry, but I don't know if this question relates to windows but it kind of does but it's more of a hardware question. So let's say I have windows 7 as my main operating system on a 500 GB hard drive. But then I dual boot with linux which took away 200 GB. So I'm left with 300 GB on my Windows OS. One day however, I went out and bought a 1 TB hard drive. So then I clone my 500 GB hard drive to my 1 TB hard drive using a boot software. But what happens to my Windows OS? Will I get more space on my Windows OS which had 300 GB before? What happens to it? This kind of a small question, not really a huge one.

With most imaging software when you clone it gives you an option to expand one of the partitions failing that you can resize after via software any way you like or create a new partition

Sorry For being a noob, but I won't lose any data afterwards correct? and you're talking about the primary partition (windows 7) right? and can you give me a depth definition of what an imaging software is? I heard of it and sort of have an idea of what it is, but not quite. Also, what imaging software that is free would you recommend?

you wont loose any data normally if you go to disk makers site they give away a free imaging software you can get free ones and a video of how to use
