Windows 7 ie8 Problem

I have a huge problem. I loaded Windows 7 and ie8 Beta build 7000 in February. I upgraded from Vista/ie7. Ever since I loaded Windows 7/ie8 I have not been able to use my laptop at all. The upgrade trashed my laptop. Whenever I try to start any application that requires the internet I get small window that tells me that "program Name" has stopped working. This includes ie8, desktop weather, Yahoo Messenger. The funny thing is that ie8 works fine when I go to Google URL. So I downloaded Google Chrome and it works fine except for Yahoo Mail. Which seems to be a known bug in Google Chrome. At least I can browse the web with Chrome, but nothing else works. I really need my laptop when I travel so I can check my mail and use Yahoo IM. I am gettinmg really desperate. It has been two months! Good Grief!
Does anyone know of a fix for this probelm? Or does anyone know if I can upgrade to a higher build in case that might solve my problem? I am still on build 7000. I have not had any new updates for over a month.
I really need HELP!!!!!!!

RE:

It was probably something to do with the upgrade. It is a beta build and upgrades with the 7000 build are not recommended. Not saying it wouldn't work, but If you can, I would try to get a hold of a build later than 7044. 7053 has been working great for me. 7000 I had on my work machine but couldn't get anything done, because IE kept crashing on me. Not only that, but every browser crashed too. I would almost guaranty, you try a different build, and everything will be fine.

You will have to search the torrent sites probably, or newsgroups. I don't think I can post links. Just do a google search and you will be good. Also, the latest build right now is 7077, that you will be able to find.

I am trying to figure out how to download from Torrent. Can someone give me some instructions?

THANKS for the help. I did download the Windows 7 Build 7077. I tried to upgrade but when it got to "Checking Compatability", I started getting a small window saying, "Tablet PC Input Panel Accessory has stopped working". I click OK to this window and send information to MS, and it takes several seconds and it pops back up. I did this for about an hour thinking the upgrade would eventually move on but never did. I wonder if the fact I am using a tablet PC for a laptop has something to do with my Windows 7/ie8 problems?

Does anyone else run a Tablet PC with the same problems I am having?

I don't use a tablet PC but it would seem that it's the upgrade process which is having a bit of a fit. Have you tried burning the ISO to DVD then booting from it and doing a fresh install? This is always the best option as there will be remnants of previous registry entries which may adversly affect your system.

I had sooo many issues with 'Explorer has stopped working' 'Internet explorer has stopped working' & more so i was relieved that a newer build hit the torrent sites.

Sounds like you had the same probem I am having. Did 7077 fix that problem for you? If I upgrade by doing a boot install, will I lose all of my appications and files? I hate to have to reload everything.

FWIW - My Tablet PC upgraded from Vista SP1 to 7000 to 7048 to 7068, and then over the weekend I restored it to factory defaults after grabbing my apps and whatnot and now I am upgrading it from Vista SP1 to 7077....

Oh, and as for IE - I only use it for the MSN Game Zone, and I use Fx for everything else.

7077 is working fine for me with the added bonus of it not running out till march next year. If you clean install (without formatting) then windows will store you're entire directory in Windows.old. You will, however, lose the apps you've installed.

When copying/accessing the User directories from windows.old you may encounter some UAC messages about Administrator rights (it UAC is eneabled). Once copied you can then delete the windows.old directory (after changing the security settings and taking ownership of it first ;))

The funny thing about this problem is that ie8 does not work for nearly 95% of the websites. The problem seems to be related to any application that accesses the web. Because Yahoo IM and the Desktop Weather do not work. Yet...Google works fine. I was finally able to download Google Chrome and it is working fine. I had a problem with Yahoo mail using Chrome but I finally got it to work to. But all of the other applications that access the web still do not work. I hope the upgrade to Build 7077 solves my problems. But I can't seem to get past the Checking Compatability module. My Windows 7 Beta upgrade has been laced with big time problems.

Compatibility?

Do you perform the upgrade in windows, or burn the iso to dvd and upgrade from there?

I would perform the upgrade from the dvd if you can.

Another thought would be to try a different build. Maybe 7068. I've been using this build at work as my main OS for some time now. I've only had IE restart on me twice so far, in the last month. Which is way better than 7000's issues.

re: IE
Try going to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> "Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons)"

If it loads then the issue is with a particular plugin (add-on) that you have installed in IE. To manage your add-ons, go to the Tools menu and Manage Add-ons. Disable everything and then open IE the normal way. From there you can selectively re-enable add-ons.

IMO - IE8 in 7 is as slow as molasses; especially with Sun Java plugins installed. Which is why I ditched it completely and switched to using Safari 4 beta as my main browser. In the rare occasion I do need to use IE though, I have it set aside on standby with all plugins but Flash disabled (still slow compared to Safari/Chrome though!).

The version bundled with 7000 is riddled with bugs. It's still the beta version so using 7068 or above will cure a lot of issues.

Also, i've seen other peolpe with the issue of accessing the internet and they have been recommended to do the following;

In Control Panel->Network and Internet->Internet Options->Connections then Lan Settings. If you un-check Automatically detect settings then try accessing a site you previously couldn't and see how you get on. I've not had the need to try this but it has worked for others in other threads.

I tried to load Build 7077. But after the checking for compatibility, the upgrade tells me that I need to uninstall PerfectDisk and then restart the Upgrade. I loaded PerfectDisk several months back to test it for a customer. I did uninstall it back then but as I recall there was a problem with the uninstall. I finally got it uninstalled so it is not on my laptop. I did a search for PerfectDisk and Raxco and deleted all remaining files. I also went to the registry and found no entries for Raxco or PerfectDisk. Yet I still get the same abort when I try to load Build 7077. This is getting really frustrating. I want to stay with Windows 7 but I need to get this fixed or go back to XP. Can anyone PLEASE help me. How do I get around this PerfectDisk problem?

You could try downloading a program call Perfect Uninstaller from here

Perfect Uninstaller - A Better and Easier Uninstaller

This should allow you to remove the affected programs, and if it's not found it should correct any errors with the Add/Remove programs. I believe it's the ARP that indicates to the installer what programs are running.

Hope this helps :)
