Give it the Label "Data Storage" and accept to use all the size, don't enter an amount.

I ask because before i started the partition part, i was going to start the install using the upgrade feature and it didn't ask at the beginning where to install windows, i cancelled the install right away when i realized i didn't do the partition. did it not ask because i didn't create the partition therefore there was no other partition to choose from?

No you are to select the "Upgrade" option and it should auto-select that partition, if it does not select the same "Windows 7" partition you did the first install to; that's how you went bo-bo before, when you were trying to upgrade the Vista you selected to install to the wrong partition.

If you don't/aren't going to have a bunch of stuff you don't want to lose on the lappy, I'd do the same "clean all" to that too to get the best possible space to do the install to and create a second partition to use as storage.

Just remember; doing a "clean all" (secure erase) to a PC Hard Disk Drive (HDD) completely over-writes everything, all data and it will not be recoverable even by the best recovery software.

That's why I was so adamant at the beginning of this thread, I didn't want you losing all your stuff.

Unless you use a specific software program like a file shredder, 'erasing' (deleting) data does not remove it, data is not removed until it is over-written, it will remain on the HDD forever if it is not over-written.

   Note

Contrary to popular belief, formatting does not remove any data at all, it just checks for sector errors and marks the space to be over-written as needed, all the data is still there including all the code from previous/failed installation attempts.

oh i know what i'm saying is that anything left on the computer i'm okay with erasing permnantly. i've saved everything i need on another device. sorry, lol didn't mean to say that i had thought it was erased for forever already, cause i know that's not the case.

No probs, that's just a pet-peeve of mine, too many people that should know better tell others all the time that a format will remove data from a HDD, sorry if you got in the way of that. :o
