Your installation is counterfeit - for which version and edition of Windows is the computer licensed, according to the COA sticker on teh case?
You will need to reformat and reinstall using either the manufacturer's proper Recovery media, or Retail media together with your Key from the COA sticker on the case (or inside the battery compartment)

It sounds like you must've bought your copy of Windows from an online service that sells Windows at a discount. It's sold at such a huge discount because the "license" they give you is bogus.

To know how to tell if it is genuine before you buy it, read the webpage at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/genuine and then click on "Before You Buy". Once it's webpage opens, click on the hyperlinks to see pictures and descriptions of the Microsoft hologram, license sticker, and what the disc should look like.

If your computer/laptop is fairly new, you can still restore it back to the way it was when you bought it--IF you haven't deleted the hidden recovery partition...


If the computer or laptop is new enough that you did not get a software installation package that comes with it, then it most likely has a hidden recovery partition on it. To access the hidden partition, you will need to go to your manufacturer's website and download a manual. (It would be found in the downloads for drivers webpage.) Then look for a section, probably towards the bottom of the Table of Contents, that talks about making a Factory Settings Recovery. It would probably have a catchy name for it. For example, on my Acer laptop, it's called eRecovery. This will restore your computer/laptop exactly the way it was when you pulled it out of the box. Before you begin this operation, you want to make sure that you backup all of your data, because part of the recovery process is that it formats the hard drive and then rebuilds it, with all the factory settings.

You will need to look for what hot keys to push to start that recovery program, as it varies from manufacturer to manufacture. For example, on my Acer laptop (and with Gateway laptops), you press <Alt> + <F10> at startup, on my son's ASUS laptop, it's <F9>, and on a Dell that I just helped someone with, it's F8, but instead of choosing Safe Mode, you look for "Recover the computer" and you start it from there.

Did u mean that i should restore my PC at the earlier date?

and also when my laptop is under warranty period there's no such problem..and now when 3-4 days back my warranty is out order the problem has pop'ed out.

and i think 1 year is over to purchase the laptop.

If not, then it's counterfeit - note that most Dell stickers are inside the battery compartment.

No, using System Restore is not enough - you need to reformat and reinstall completely to remove all traces of the hacker's handiwork.
Back up your data to external media and use legitimate media to clean install Windows.

I was not talking about System Restore.

I was talking about how to do a Factory Settings Recovery so your laptop would be EXACTLY as it was when it came out of the box.

On today's newer computers and laptops you DO NOT FORMAT the hard drive. Instead, you run the Factory Settings Recovery program.

Again this is NOT System Restore. It's Factory Settings Recovery!

Now please go back and read my post to find out HOW to do it.

as i can't find out the COA sticker..i called out dell customer support..and they said that the PC has been purchased without the windows 7 pre-installed on the PC. and therefore there is no such COA sticker.
and so the windows has been installed externally.

now what should i do?

You MUST buy the key from a reputable dealer - NOT some flea-market, where the chances are that it's counterfeit...
