Windows 7 Media Center Netflix Problem

For about a week now I have been unable to watch anything using Netflix via WMC. Netflix via IE works fine. Netflix via WMC will allow me to login and do everything except when I click play I get the following screen prompting me to login (obviously I am already logged in). This screen allows no input from the keyboard or onscreen keyboard so I cannot login.

I've tried to resolve the problem by uninstalling the Netflix for Media Center program via Uninstall Programs. I then opened WMC and reinstalled Netflix, logged in and still received the same login screen when trying to play a movie.

I then uninstalled WMC via the "Turn Windows features on or off". After restarting my computer I turned WMC back on and started WMC up again. All of my settings had been saved so I wasn't confident that this was a clean install of WMC and opening Netflix and trying to watch a movie gave me the same error.

I'm guessing I have a corrupt file or database record somewhere. I don't want to have to reinstall Windows 7.

Any ideas? WMC and my great remote are pretty useless to me without Netflix.

Call up Netflix. They have very good support to fix issues like this.

Netflix bad boy

Netflix will blame Microsoft and will not help you with WMC I have tried. My issue was I could go to the netflix and see my queue and if I selected a movie I would get a streaming error. I am running win7 premium and I had to upgrade to IE9 after I updated all the Security fixes searched the web this was a option. And it fixed my streaming issue. But if you are running XP there is no IE9 due to Internet Explorer 9 uses Direct2D for hardware acceleration which is unavailable in Windows XP. IF you have MS Vista SP2 yes you can install IE9. But it is forever I believe in beta form for Vista since windows 7 release if not good I did not check but I can guess.

I also use Hulu which if you have more the IE9 installed and plug-ins for firefox it seems to lag the video. I disabled firefox plugins and this stopped. I am still testing as yep. Once my PC-DVR is built will only have IE9 since it is a DVR +media PC.

I did update to SP1 with no issues.

Its the cookies

I had the same problem. I signed out of Netflix from the media center and closed it, opened up Internet explorer, signed out of netflix and deleted all the cookies, logged off, logged back in, opened media center, signed in and it worked. Try this and let me know.

Manyvan, thanks. That solved the problem. I don't know why I didn't think of that sooner.

I had to sign out of Netflix via WMC.
Sign out of Netflix in Firefox
and
Sign out of Netflix in IE

I then deleted all my IE cookies and just the Netflix.com cookie in Firefox.

I then logged in to Netflix in WMC where it prompted me to pass my credentials to login via some site which it did and everything worked.

Thanks a TON. I can finally use WMC to watch movies again.

I am having the same problem except it happens to me in IE9, try uninstalling your silverlight and re-installing it.

I had never tried it but just tried it now, worked for me but I have to ask why anyone would want to use WMC to access Netflix instead of using the Netflix website? I've always considered WMC to be pretty much useless. Am I missing something?

I really don't want to have to use a mouse to watch Netflix on 52 inch 1080p tv from a couch 15 feet away. I would rather use WMC7 with my Harmony Remote, which I do.

I have a BluRay player with Netflix built-in which is how I access it to watch on my TV. On my computer I prefer using the Netflix website over WMC.

My HTPC does blu ray, netflix, boxee, amazon instant video, hulu, will have all my dvd's backed up on it, has all my music files and pictures and will stream everything to every other device in the house and record 2 over the air hd signals and all through wmc7 interface. The only other 2 units i will have in my living room will be a directv hd dvr, which streams to every pc in the house except htpc with directv2pc, and my 7.1 receiver. That is why, it is nice to run as much as possible through one interface sitting on the couch, granted there are better choices out there, xbmc, but right now this works with no issues and I built it with almost all old leftover parts.
