Windows 7 not updating

My Belarc advisor is telling me that I have critical updates as follows
Q2538243 Important Microsoft security update (KB2538243)
Q3177186 Important Microsoft security update (KB3177186)
Q3185911 Important Microsoft security update (KB3185911)
Q3188730 Important Microsoft security update (KB3188730)
Q3192391 Critical Microsoft security update (KB3192391)
Q3197867 Critical Microsoft security update (KB3197867)

Windows updates is telling me that I do not have any updates to install,
so I can I install these 6 updates, Windows updates is set to install
updates automatically.

Firstly is the computer stable and do not have any issue, ignoring virus & malware types.

Do check in the windows updates --> view update history.

There would may have some updates failed.

So, most probably your Belarc advisor went to windows updates and show you what is already stated in windows update.

My opinion is to ignore for the time being as the system is not giving you headache.

Others may say differently.


This is depend on your decision, as each has it own view.

My Belarc advisor is now telling me my Security Updates are Up-to-date
and Microsoft updates are telling me there are none to install.
But when I go into my installed updates it shows KB2538243 security update
failed with error code 643 ? what can I do to rectify this.

As far as I can tell, KB2538243 dates back at least to 2011.
It may have been long ago superseded by another patch.
Moreover, some of those 3rd-party "update advisor" programs are sometimes inaccurate.

With such an old patch, I probably would no nothing.
Sometimes it's better not to fix something that may not be broken.
(You can Google "error code 643" for more information.)

If you want to try something, perhaps try downloading the correct version of the standalone installer for your architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) HERE or from the Windows Update Catalog and see if it will install manually.
(I suggest that you might want at least to set a system restore point AND create a system backup image or at least backup the registry before doing it.)
