I have tried to work this out myself, but now realize this computer hasn't had an update since 8/16/17. Running Windows 7 Home Premium SP-1 64 Bit on a HP desktop. Followed some earlier suggestions; ran sfc/scannow - No Integrity Violations. Ran C:\windows\system32>DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth. Received message; Deployment: Image Servicing and Management: tool Version: 6.1.7600.16385 Image version: 6.1.7601.18489 Error 87 The Restore Health option is not recognized in this context. I changed Windows update settings to 'Never' and deselected the two boxes below that. I have initiated Windows update; the screen says I have 80 Important Updates. It's been running for 45 minutes and hasn't downloaded a thing. I sure would appreciate some (detailed) help. Please!

Add: My windows System screen says "Get more features with a new edition of Windows 7." Thoughts, recommendations. My HP is a Pavilion p7-1010 6GB RAM 1TB disk

I don't think that command is designed for Windows 7 since the full version of DISM is on 8.1. Error 87 running Cleanup-Image - Microsoft Community Besides that command is to fix the recovery image which I believe isn't installed in 7 however I could be wrong. If you are having problems with windows update you should try a reset of windows update. Windows Update - Reset - Windows 7 Help Forums

Your update options of 7 are limited. There was Windows anytime upgrade however after Windows 8 came out that was disabled. Now you would have to buy a new version of 7 and the only legal way to purchase it that I know of is for Pro OEM through Newegg. I wouldn't trust Amazon or eBay because you are likely to get either a pirated version or a key that has already been used. Windows 7, 8 and 10 Home and Professional - Newegg.com

Thanks for the reply. I'll try to resolve tomorrow, one way or another.
