I've been running windows 7 Pro vers. 7600 on a second pc for many years that's not connected to the Internet. I have 2 pc's and this one I use for graphics work. I've never had any problems until today when I decided to upgrade my gpu. On installation of the nvidia driver it stopped the install stating I needed to install 2 updates first, that relate to the sha2 update.
So I tried to install these 2 updates and could not. Windows reported saying this update was not applicable to this system.
So now I'm stuck with an awful vga driver and cannot install the nvidia drivers.
Can anyone offer any help?

you probably need 7601 to install the updates

I would run a "repair install" using media that already includes SP1.

First backup the activation SEE HERE

Extract the installation iso file to usb

Then on the installation usb, change the sources\cversion.ini to read 7600.0 like this:

[HostBuild]
MinClient=7600.0
MinServer=7600.0

cversion.jpg

Now you can do the repair install. just plug in the usb and run setup. Select upgrade .

Do you have installation media that already contains SP1 ?

Not going to work. You can't repair install Windows 7 RTM using SP1 media.

Dowload source for Windows 7 Service Pack 1:

Microsoft Update Catalog
