Hello everyone,
this my first ever post on this forum. I have used your valuable information in the past to solve all my problems - THANK YOU.
I have been trying to update my Lenovo T430 laptop with an error code at the end of the update attempt of 80070643 & 9C59. It also gives me the dialog box with the error Code: 0x80070002. I have attached the zipped CBS file & 2 x screen shots of the error dialog boxes. I have tried various fixes found on other site without any success. I also attempted a repair install last night. The repair did everything right, except fixing the update issue.
The PC seems to run fine without any other problems, except every time I boot up & logon, the error Code: 0x80070002 dialog box appears.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The windowsupdate.log is, frankly, a mess :(

You have two failing updates
1) Update for Microsoft Security Essentials - 4.6.305.0 (KB2965031)
2) Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems.

I suspect that your best option for the MSE update is actually going to be to uninstall the current one, and install the updated version from a fresh download.

The fact that the system is only offering you IE10 is interesting - you should be being offered ie11, unless you've hidden it for some reason?

Thanks for taking the time to look into my issue.
I am not sure how to proceed from this point.
I have looked in control panel>installed windows updates, and cannot find KB2965031 to uninstall!
As for the possibility of a hidden IE10 or 11. I did purchase this PC second hand with win 7 installed with a COA sticker attached.
I suppose I could bite the bullet & perform a clean install.
Where do you suggest I should go from here?

Thanks for all the advice. I am very happy the collective knowledge is available for all the plebs like myself.

After installing MSE, the error Code: 0x80070002 on my machine has bee resolved has been resolved. IE10 is now persistent during update installs!
I shall gather all the necessary device drivers required for my PC & perform a clean install.
