Hello Sevenforums I apologize in advance if I posted this in the wrong area. Im having major issues re activating windows after a massive hardware upgrade. My copy of windows is genuine it was a retail upgrade from windows vista and I did the validation over 1 year ago. (Still have the box CD code etc.) It keeps telling me to activate windows 27 days remaining. Which Ive tried to do. It rejects my code Ive tried all known methods of activation. I've contacted support at Microsoft and got no help, the guy on the phone I could barely understand. I would be over the moon if somebody could give me a solution. :sarc:

basic facts.

1.Only done 1 fresh re-install and 1 full backup of windows over the lifespan of the product key.
2.This was an upgrade copy designed for windows vista purchased from one of the largest retail stores in New Zealand.
3.My hardware is now completely new bar the hardrive, DVD writer & chassis.
4.All hardware has been installed correctly and has been burnt in

I can't see any problems with the report - you probably simply need to use telephone activation.

telephone activation (operator calls)
Click on the Start button
in the Search box, type
SLUI 4
and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you

Try again - the operator your spoke to was clueless.

Just skimming through, this is what I would do. Re-install Vista, boot up Vista, insert DVD with Win. 7, in the pop-up screen, choose "update" and follow instructions. Of course, have all keys ready! :)

Try again - the operator your spoke to was clueless.

...just in case, try this....

Please first try recreating Licensing Store.

Recreate the Licensing Store
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

net stop sppsvc
(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
net start sppsvc
slui.exe

After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.
You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker, or on the PoL label in your Win7 Package.

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report
