Our Windows 7 now has all of the user login icons being displayed during boot up. Can this be changed back to the last user to login with the "switch user" login. I work for a K12 district. Our users do not want to see all of the other user's with login capabilities and neither do I. Our other logins are designed for our techs to assist users with computer problems.

Can anyone give me any information on how to return this screen to its original version instead of listing all users. We tried the other choice and that will not work either. Users do not want to type their username very time.

Thanks!

Hi lyn2fly and Welcome to Sevenforums!

After searching a wee bit I found this on another forum, it might not be exactly what you were searching for but it is quite close.

To hide additional user accounts on Windows Logon Use Regedit, also works for Vista

Hide User Accounts in windows Vista and Windows 7 at Run type regedit
Once in regedit go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

In the left panel, right click on Winlogon and click New and click Key.

Type SpecialAccounts and press Enter

In the left panel, right click on SpecialAccounts and click New and click Key.

Type UserList and press Enter.

In right panel of UserList, right click on a empty area and click New then click DWORD (32bit) Value.

Type in the name of the user account that you want to hide and press Enter.eg: Everyday Account.

In the right panel, right click on the user account name and click Modify.

To hide the user account – Type 0 and click OK. (number zero not the letter)
Whenever you want to use the account just unhide the it by typing 1 instead of zero.

Cheers Boris :)

I understand this solution. The problem is when you hide a login it becomes disabled. That is not what we are looking for. What has happened to "switch user" logic?

Thanks for the response. I appreciate all comments and/or solutions.

Have a great day!

Yes, I tried that one also. Users do not like it either. We just keep trying to find a solution or the user will have to get use to it.

Thanks!

Hi, found some other things you might want to try out, from our own site, scroll down to Option 4:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/5382-log-screen-change.html

And from Microsoft Answers:

If Switch user is missing, check the settings in the Group Policy

1. Click Start, type gpedit.msc in the Search box and click gpedit.msc from the programs list
2. Click Local Computer Policy, then click Computer Configuration, then click Administrative Templates, then System and then click Logon
3. On the Logon window double-click Hide entry points for Fast User Switching
4. Click Not Configured, click Apply and then OK

If Switch user is grayed out, modify the registry
1. Click the Start button, then type regedit in the Search box. Click Regedit.exe from the programs list.
2. Browse to the following registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
3. Click to select System
4. Double-click the key HideFastUserSwitching and change the value from "1" to "0"
Hope this helps.

Thanks

Boris
