Windows 7 RAM Help!

Hey! Im new here and this is my first thread.
Im not positive if i put this in the right spot so sorry if i didn't.
I was wondering if i should buy 2GB's of ram for my laptop. Im running Windows 7 64bit with an Intel Celeron 900 2.3ghz processor (which isnt the best i know), and didnt know if i added 2 more GB's of Ram would i notice the better proformance with multitasking and stuff like that, or would it be about the same?

So according to the specs you posted, you have 4gb now.

What is the model # of the laptop ?

According to your specs, you have 4GB. I also see you have a laptop. Chances are, to add 2GB, you would actually have to buy a 4GB DDR3 stick, which would be pretty pricey. Personally, I don't think you would get much of a performance increase if any. 4GB should be good enough for 64-bit Windows 7 for most people.

Ok sorry my specs are currently wrong.
I said i had 4gb's because i was probly ganna buy 2 more GB's anyway.
And my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C655.

I paid $80 for 2GB at Staples to get my system up to snuff (4GB) to run 64 bit smoothly.
Your Toshiba Satellite C665 only came with 2GB?

The only problem I see is, when mix and match RAM, you typically run into problems. According to Toshiba, you do have one free slot, but unless you know all the timings and the manufacturer of the RAM, you could have issues. Unfortunately, Toshiba does not specify what RAM comes with the laptop. I would try removing the original RAM stick and writing down everything you see. Important things are any brand names and anything written in the form of "PC3-8500" or "555-12" / "5-5-5-12"

So i would take the ram out but unscrewing the thing on the bottom the laptop right?

Not sure if their open on the weekends though.


But if i do get the RAM do i just unscrew the thing on the bottom of the computer and plug it in there?

NoGoodNamesLeft, yes. Just make sure the computer is turned of, unplugged, the battery is removed, and to touch something metal (not painted) to avoid applying any electric shock to the RAM stick. This would potentially damage it.

WHOA!
I was unscrewing the thing on the bottom of the laptop and i figured out what ram it was and when i got back there like like 5 more posts!

I might buy the ram sometime today or tommarow.
