Well, mbcopeland.. Are you?

I am not seeing a physical blue screen, however the error noted in the event logs literally says BlueScreen.

The shutdowns literally throw the exact same errors as when I pull the power cable from the back of the computer and plug it back in--which I tried once just to see, so I am leaning toward the motherboard right now anyway.

I am going to download an Unbuntu mem test ISO at the recommendation of a friend and make sure that my memory is "good".

I am also going to test out the CPU fully tomorrow.

I am calling Intel tomorrow to see if the sister system that loses time can be "fixed". If I can get that resolved, then I will just upgrade my motherboard to the same revision as the other system. Since that is the only difference 402 versus 404 DP45SG revison I should be able to get my primary system up and running by at least changing out the motherboard if the memory and CPU test out okay.

hope you get it sorted, because i think i am a step further on with mine, looks like its my dvb-t tuner card thats causing the hibernate lockup., since removing it, i can sleep/hibernate neatly 100% of the time, and I bet it i removed all traces of its drivers, it may be 100%, only issue with that I have is I never installed the drivers, win7 did from the update site, so maybe the update site's drivers are not 100% tested, theres a worry....

Sometimes you can use the event viewer to find which manufacturer's product is involved. Whether that's the board, chipset, even an addon device that often will point to the source of the problem. Since you are not seeing any error codes that seems the best place to look for a clue.

Swap out my eyes...

I found a forum on the Intel site with 8+ pages of other users with DP45SG boards having reboot problems.

Me specific memory has not been tested so I am changing that out next...

Sounds like a common problem with that model board's chipset if it's not the particular memory used. If the board runs better with standard memory and you went with a performance memory instead you may not any faults with it. Or you might have to adjust the dram timings.

I have been running the Kingston memorry at 1.75v and windows has stopped rebooting constantly. Intel said that was not a problem, so clearly it was not a Windows 7 issue.

hrumph!

Given that event viewer said bluescreen could you go into c:\windows\minidump and see if there are dump files (*.dmp) and if so coulod you upload then to us to have a look at?

With your new 8GB of Ram you may need to go into bios and make some adjustments to the northbridge voltage and memory settings.

Hmmm, maybe I wasn't too far off with this.

Mismatched timings? Like I was mentioning before the board probably runs on standard memory timings while you have the faster Hyper X memory?

My name is HAL.

While Intel does not explicitly approve this memory, they did offer this page: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dp45sg/sb/CS-029151.htm

The key note here is this: "1.5 V DDR3 SDRAM DIMMs with gold plated contacts, with the option to raise the voltage to support higher performance DDR3 SDRAM DIMMs."

Kingston on the other hand, which I have as it turns out) sent me a reply saying these are 1.5v and that should work fine at 1.5v. I have yet to follow-up with Kingston getting all the dimm numbers but I will this weekend.

I cannot find the BlueScreen errors on this Install, I have reinstalled 15 times, but I had seen them and I was able to previously attach one of the files. I think it was a dmp-I no longer have it and the reboots are completely gone.

My current pleasure is a HAL error saying, "The platform firmware has corrupted memory across the previous system power transition. Please check for updated firmware for your system."

That message follows a, "The browser has forced an election on network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{D7345851-6328-44B8-9B43-B8D2A94B4DFB} because a master browser was stopped."

Which follows every sleep.

While I see the HAL error, I have no obvious problems.

If you really really want me to make it crash again and to find those files, I am sure I can adjust the memory voltage and make it happen...

If you have everything going great now why would you? So gold contacts and a lowered voltage made the difference there apparently. It would be interesting to hear what Kingston has to say since I run that brand here.
