Windows 7 Stalls on "Starting Windows" While Repairing with Boot DVD

Alright, here's the problem.

I have a standard Dell XPS 15", it's worked all year, no issues.

All of a sudden, it freezes. So I restart the computer, try again, and I get a blue screen. Try again, another blue screen.

I wait 10 minutes, and now when I boot it doesn't even start Windows. The BIOS POST comes up, then nothing... just blackness. I'm guessing the HDD is kaput.

I select to boot from CD/DVD and enter my WIN7 Home Premium DVD. all is good, you know, "Press any Key to Boot from CD/DVD".

It goes to the "Starting Windows Page". and now nothing.

It's been "Starting Windows" for an hour...

So, any suggestions? Thanks!

So you pressed a key to boot to the Windows CD, and the first thing that appears is it loading the environment to install Windows (shows the Windows logo glowing and an explanatory text), which apparently it is stuck on, correct? If this is so, is the logo still glowing or does even the logo appear stuck?

If this is all occurring during Windows CD loading, then we're dealing with hardware issues beyond the hard drive, most likely a failed motherboard. Either way, hope you got your warranty in hand and ready, because it's looking like you're gonna need it. There's no point trying to ascertain exact cause when a warranty is available, especially when we can already figure that it's hardware-related and you will just end up using the warranty to replace said hardware anyways.

Alright. Yeah, it's glowing, but it has been for 4 hours. let's see if the warranty works while I'm in another continent.

Thanks for the answer!
