Windows 7 stuck in startup loop

Hello, I was using EASUS partitioning tool to repartition my hard disc a few days ago as my C: drive was running out of space. I merged the C: drive (which is my system drive) with my D: drive (which contains a lot of data as well). All seems to be going well, but after the usual reconfiguration and restart, my windows 7 is stuck in the startup repair screen. Windows is trying to repair my startup without success, which is resulting in a loop. Fortunately i am able to go into safe mode and save my data.

Curiously, the partition works and all my data is acessible.

Do you have any idea on how to fix this without reformatting the hard disc ?

If it helps, i am running on windows 7 home premium, 64 bit. My laptop is asus g73s running on 8 gb of ram and 2 hard disc, each 500 gb.

Welcome to the forums

First try running http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html , for at least three separate times, with restarts after every single run, using either the installation disk, or a startup repair disk. Automated startup repair does not provide satisfactory results all the times.

Hello, i have done all that and nothing works. Curiously, my system file is now in D: while before it is in C: . My friend suggested that this error might be because the computer is trying to boot from C while now the system is in D. Any suggestion?

Can you post a snip of your disk management window ? It is to know that which partition is active. Usually the active partition is the 100 mb hidden system reserved partition .

I guess you can mark the system partition as active by following the method two or method 3 of the tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/71432-partition-mark-active.html , and then to run Startup Repair for at least three separate times with restarts in between every single run to copy the mbr in the new place.

But, the snip of the disk management window will make the situation clear.

Hi, it doesnt work as well... The computer indicates that my system is in c now...
