Solved Windows 7 Stuck on Loading Screen Unknown Error

Ok so basically im trying to help my friend out who doesnt know much about computers i told him to post this forum but he kept refusing so i am trying to help im as much as i can. Basicaly his computer starts up fine then gets past the Mobo logo screen it asks if he would like to start normally after that it loads to the starting windows screen and freezes im thinking its HDD but i could be wrong im not a pro at this. Its a custom build as well

ToxicXGL, try booting it in safe mode. If that works uninstall the video card driver, then reboot.

If that works then update the graphics driver

He was playing Crossfire, and no option to launch into safe mode just start normally and start up repair but launching into repair gives a black screen

Try using Hiren's Boot CD's dos hard disk tools to see if the boot drive has been corrupted. You can use one of the many drive scanners that can scan the whole disk. After that, you can use Mini XP which is also on Hiren's to do a full CHKDSK.

This is usually the case for me, when I have had similar boot problems occur. If the system had locked up, it's usually good to check the drives anyway.

Ok so far the Hirens boot wont be used anytime soon to long of a download, and the trouble shootings being a problem as i cannot explain how to disconnect everything but the HDD hes a bit of a noob with computers and every time we try to write for step 3 errors occur failed.

Can you press [ENTER] on Startup repair ?

You could also try Startup repair in Recovery Console

• Restart the computer.
• As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
• Use the arrow keys to select the Repair Your Computer menu item.
• Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
• Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
• Select your user account an click Next.

Then


On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:

• :ar: Startup Repair
  
• :ar: System Restore
  
• :ar: Windows Complete PC Restore
  
• :ar: Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
  
• :ar: Command Prompt

Select StartUp Repair

hitting the F8 only gets us into a screen that asks what we want to boot from such as the HDD or CD drives etc

When you tap on F8 while the PC is booting up you should get to the screen that shows below

Tapping f8 only leads to a screen that asks to select boot drives, made a repair CD but that CD loads then shows the windows is loading screen and stops there

The tool says no drive found. Perhaps a dead drive I'm gonna tell him to check his data connection right now

Checked data connection to the HDD and its solid I don't think he has any extra data cables to see if its a dead cable

Can you place it on another SATA connector on the motherboard ?
