hello everyone , i've been having this problem for months now , every now and then aprox twice a day my system would just hang for no apparent reason , its seems completely random , sometimes it does it when i watching a movie , surfing the internet or when the system is idle , i first experienced this problem when i was using windows 7 RC build 7100 and it is also happing in my current final 7600 . i tried looking in the event viewer but the only hard error i get is that the previous shut down was unexpected , because i have to force shut it down and restart it every time it freezes , i also noticed that the last event be4 the shut down is always this ,

i was getting the same thing but instead of FileInfo it said "agv64" which was my anti-virus program , so i thought agv was the issue , uninstalled agv and now i get the same error but with "file Info" im not really sure how to proceed , any comments or suggestions will be greatly appropriated . here are my specs ,

Hello Welcome to SF,

Most of the freezing issues happen because of out-dated or bad driver. So first make sure you have all the drivers are upto date like Display, NIC etc. Try to reboot the System in Selective Startup. See whether that makes any difference. Run the Memory Diagnostic to make sure Memory is good. Try these steps and post us back !!

Hope this helps,
Captain

i just finished updating it as per Capt.Jack Sparrow suggestion (great name btw) , the current ver is 8.17.11.9621 dated 1/11/2010 which i got by having windows update the driver automatically, i couldn't find a stable/final release of the driver @ NVIDIA's web site they only have a beta (GeForce/ION Release 197 BETA 197.13 March 17, 2010). which im tempted to install , but i want to wait and see if the windows update solves the problem be4 i try beta drivers ...
