It is not recommended to by Windows 7 from anyone other than an authorized re-seller, and they dont sell on e-bay.

I wouldn't buy it from eBay. There are a lot of threads here from people who bought Ultimate on eBay, wondering why they got the "Not Genuine" message after a couple of months use. For most of them it was a lesson learned the hard way.

ANd as an aside. All legal copies of windows are liekly to be pretty much the exact same price depending on version in any particular market (I.e. the UK). The only real price difference you might see (of more than like 10 pounds/$$) is between OEM and Retail. OEM is a good bit cheaper, but once you install it on one PC you can;t then later on transfer it to a newer PC. With Retail you can.
But if by then you expect to use Windows 8 on any new PC, you can save some money buying an OEM version along with the hardware you buy (look on the site/store you are buying the motherboard and or hard drive from, they may have OEM copies for sale and you MUST buy the copy along with either a motherboard or a harddrive or some other major internal computer part).

If it includes both 32 and 64 bit versions as stated, it ought to be a retail copy.
The odd thing about it is that appears to be the original RTM version. No SP1. Not a big deal.

I don't really see the problem with buying a copy of Windows off eBay, as long as there is a photo of the box and it's still factory sealed. Coz then you know there's a legitimate key inside. The key is what you're paying for, not the disc. You can borrow a mate's disc to install then use your own legit key if you want to.

This is where you have to start asking questions. If your friend is on a budget or concerned about cost, then tell him to consider something other than Ultimate. Chances are, he could be just fine with Home Premium for around $100 USD.

It doesn't say so, so I assume it does not include SP1.
SP1 is a bunch of updates and improvements, but it can be downloaded separately if it is not included with the package you buy.
