windows 7 updater not working?

When ever i try check/download updates, it just kind of, looks for updates for about 6 hours..No error messasge no nothing, just constantly is "Looking"

and if it does find updates it downloads at 0KB 0% done for ever...

tried leaveing it on over night ect..just wont work.

ne ideas?

Hello Serbitar, and welcome to Seven Forums.

What firewall program are you using? If it's not Windows Firewall, then temporarily disable or uninstall it to test if Windows Update runs properly afterwards.

If you are using Windows Firewall, then you might try OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to reset Windows Update to see if that may be able to help.

If still no help, then you could do a system restore using a restore point dated before you had this issue.

If it doesn't work try this:
1.go to control panel
2.search for troubleshooting
3.click it and search for fix Windows Update and let it check
It should look like this:
