Windows 7 USB driver explosion, dowse accordingly

Hello everyone!!

I am running Windows 7 x64 build 7600 on a Compaq laptop. I am having a specific problem with external devices. When I go to burn a DVD, whether the data rests on an external device or elsewhere, I start getting very high DPCs (split between interrupts and DPCs 50/50 CPU usage). It basically causes the computer to become completely non-responsive and I have to hard reboot.

I do not get this kind of error under any circumstances besides burning or R/W to USB devices.

I have tried running stack traces but its a little difficult when the CPU is maxed out. I ONLY get this particular crippling effect when burning or occassionally when I access external USB devices.

This only happens in Windows 7!!

Is it possible to use the USB driver from Server 2008? Has anyone with a fix? Could I switch files from another OS?

First check for a BIOS update. Are you sure that you used an untouched Win 7 ISO for installation? USB drivers from another OS are not the right way to solve your problem.
