My wife has a Lenovo compute with Windows 7. She had the free version of Avest loaded on it. She uninstalled Avest through the control panel and now windows will not load. I can not even get the computer up in safe mode. When I try to boot it it goes to a startup repair screen and than tells me it cannot repair automatically. If I look at the details it says Startup repair is off line. It also says problem signature 07: Corrupt file.

I know there were some post on this form about this. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Arno

Here is an article with a lot of people commenting on the same problem. See if this helps Corrupt file at startup, can not start up Win 7- resolved using a - Microsoft Community

As soon as you get the problem corrected, download Macrium Reflect Free You make a backup of your system once a week and the next time this happens you just restore the newest backup and you are good to go. A restore takes about 15 minutes. == If the article above does not get you going, come back and we will try again. Good luck

The correct way to remove Avast and most other antivirus programs is via the dedicated removal tool which in this case must be run in safe mode.

Avast Unistall Utility

Not booting: Usually means that a critical system file or driver has been deleted or disabled.

Help? You may get help from experts here but I believe that the dedicated Avast forum will have seen this problem many times and know how to resolve it.
