Okay so today my computer was lagging really badly.(Which it never does) So i restarted it to see if that would help, but when I restarted it, it would go to the starting windows screen but after that my screen went black no cursor or anything. So I figured hey why dont I just do the start-up repair tool but that didn't help it just said start-up repair could not fix this. The only way i can type this question is through safe mode. PLEASE help I cant restore my computer because I have important files on it, and I have no way to back it up. So any other ways to fix this would be appreciated.:(

Welcome to SevenForums,

-Some says that they have to uninstalled in safe mode the graphics drivers then rebooting fine. Reinstalled their graphics after.

-Is your hard drive in Bios set to SMART?

-Could be a bad virus, try a full scan in safe mode.

Hope this help.

Hi,

Kindly follow the below mentioned steps in order:

1. Confirm Hard Drive is recognized in BIOS. If yes, follow next step. If NO, load BIOS defaults.
2. Boot to Safe mode and perform system restore. System Restore will affect Windows system files, programs, and registry settings only. If system restore fails, follow next step.
3. Run Start Up repair by following the steps from the URL mentioned: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-vista/Startup-Repair-frequently-asked-questions
4. If the issue still persists, then try running the Hardware Diagnostics. If you get any error code, make a note of the error code.

To know if your hard drive is on smart, you'll have therfore entering the bios setup by pressing a "F" key or "Del" key at boot (depend of your brand).

Then in the bios setup try searching Hard drives configuration.

Please feel free to fill your specs aswell in order some to help you.
