Windows 7 Won't Open any ".exe" Programs

On my PC whenever I go to open any program that has the extension ".exe" the program will start up but almost immediately a popup will say "Program.exe has stopped working" I have tried the .REG method, reinstalling the program, going into "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" method and I am becoming quite annoyed by it. If anyone has any experience with resolving this it would be grately appreciated, Thanks a bunch!

It definitely looks like a damn malware infection. May be in all probability a boot sector virus.

Ok thanks I will try this because I've already scanned and cleaned with malwarebytes and so I will give this a go and see what happens thanks!
