Solved windows 7 wont remember wireless password

delete the manage and unmanaged folders, or just the keys in them? managed is empty other than one setting on the right side... unmanaged has one folder in it with several things on the right in that folder.
What settings is on right side? it should be something like (Default) (value not set). That's the only thing that should be there.

any ideas how to fix?

thanks.

Maybe the solution provided in the following link will help.

Windows 7 has no problems remembering WiFi passwords and settings provided that you are using the correct settings in the router before setting up the Wireless Profile in Manage Wireless Connections.

Code:
netsh wlan show profiles
netsh wlan show profiles name="MyHomeProfGood" key=clear
netsh wlan show profiles name="MyHomeProfWrong" key=clear

If you change password using GUI see post #27 .. it updates MyHomeProfGood but in GUI you still see what is in MyHomeProfWrong?

What happens if you delete the profile with the CORRECT password?
Code:
netsh wlan delete profile name="ProfileName"

Change password using GUI afterwards

marking this as solved. found a post elsewhere on the forum with the answer that worked. I made the files read only and it works. wifi password now is remembered. :)

The WLAN password is encrypted and stored in an XML file in c:\Program Data\Microsoft\Wlansvc\Profiles\Interfaces\..GUID\.
However, the xml file was being deleted so the settings not kept. I made the file RO after logging in and connecting and now all is fixed.
