Hi, I switch off my PC overnight. At switch off every day I am told there updates being installed (varies between 1 and 7). Every morning I am being told to wait while updates are being configured. After about 5 mins PC works normally for the day's duration.
Is MS updating this often or is there something I am missing?

My first post! Would appreciate advice please.

Thanks

Can you post your \Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log file? It might be large, so it may make sense to zip or rar it up first.

You have about 7 packages that are reporting "CBS_E_INVALID_PACKAGE", which probably explains why it keeps trying it over and over. I am going to suggest running CheckSUR (download the Win7 x64 package) and see if it reports any errors, and if so, those will have to be resolved before you can fix this. If you have a system restore point to before this started, it would technically be easier just to restore to that point and run WU again.

Success with the Update readiness Tool. Initially tried to resore twice back 10 days. This DID NOT work. However the readiness Tool ran as described. I followed this by Windows update, shut down and restarted and this went smoothly. Many thankas for your very prompy assistance.
