Solved Windows 7N Professional - Multimedia Download

Cannot download as Genuine Advantage tool is no longer supported. Any ideas?

When I go to this page: Get Windows Media Player - Microsoft Windows
and attempt to download the "Media Feature Pack", and click "Continue", and then "Continue to launch the validation tool, I get the following message:

"This version of the Windows Genuine Advantage validation tool is no longer supported. Please download the newest version and ensure that your system clock is accurate."

What is my next step?

In order to completely troubleshoot Windows validation & activation issues, please perform the following:

1. Download and save this tool to your desktop:

2. Run the tool, and then click 'Copy' - ignore any errors if they appear

3. Use CTRL+V to paste the unedited results of the validation tool here in your next reply

However, as i understand it, the issue is NOT that my copy of Windows is bogus - it has to do with the Genuine Advantage tool being unsupported (now).

Perhaps I'm unclear about the problem - what do you mean by 'unsupported'? Unsupported by what?

No worries on the confusion.
I have a valid copy of Win7 Professional N. It does not come with multimedia support. When I try to download the multimedia package, it insists that I run the "Genuine Advantage validation tool". When I go to launch the tool - Iget the message that the tool is no longer supported - just like I detailed in the post above. I need to find the supported version of the tool, or a copy of Media Player 12, or another way to get the download.

The problem here is that MS has broken validation by any means other than ActiveX in Internet Explorer 32-bit.

Go back to the original download page using Internet Explorer 32-bit and click on the Continue button - after a few seconds, the page should refresh, and turn teh button into a Download one.

That was some heavy duty detective work by Tech Mgr (the forum poster.) Presumably, MS does quality control checks. Wonder why this "defective" link wasn't noticed.
