Windows 8 VM error

Hello,
i 've got the following problem.
my cpu supports pae and nx (used coreinfo from sysinternals to find out). but when i try to install windows 8 in vmware player, i see that my CPU is not supported. (0x000005C). Why?
My host is Win7 Proffesional x64 and vmware player version is
6.0.1 build-1379776

Hello and welcome downq I am not familiar with VM stuff but did find thisfor that error code and it is suggesting some problem with hardware and in yourcase that looks like the CPU.
How To Fix STOP 0x0000005C (HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED)

I am just assuming that because it is a dual core and maybe doesnot have the capacity to run that software it is being pulled up asunsupported.
It does seem to have a reasonable L2 cache but against it is its age (released in 2006) and the speed I would hazard a guess is not the greatest. ARK | Intel® Core?2 Duo Processor E6400 (2M Cache, 2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
I would if I were you try upgrading the CPU if you can. If we could know the motherboard model we might better be able to help as then we can find supported processors for it that might solve your predicament.
Having said hat I have a test machine with a quad "Q" Intel CPU and pricing a replacement for it was just mind numbingly scary, so replacing the CPU might not be a very affordable option.
