An Anytime Upgrade requires that the initial install is fully activated and validated. You must also have the correct Upgrade for the installed OS (e.g. you cannot use a Home Premium to Pro upgrade to upgrade Home Basic).

What Upgrade do you have?

As Layback Bear suggests, please post your MGADiag report.

I agree I am very confusing.. If we just deal with this maybe easier.. I purchased a windows upgrade key to upgrade about ayear ago.. So after installing windows.. I went to start clicked on the orb..Clicked all programs then the icon for windows anytime update.. Went threw the verifacation process.. It was good so started to update The update did its normal thing checked online for updates said 135 i beleive.. About a half hour into process got a box that said there was an error I needed to restart windows.. When I did the screens were saying do not turn off computer configuring windows..Then again said there was anerror could not retreve updates so mit was going to undo changes.. It shutdown restarted and icon in start menu gone.. Tryed typing anytime upade in search no results.. So i started googleing ran across a post on your site.. Folled instructions on how to use gpedit got mto the screen that said windows anytime update disabled.. So per post disabled that hit apply ok restarted windows still not there so went back and settings were the same as I set..Hopefully not too much information.. I do realize I am hard to understand I guess It has something to do with being an old guy.. I apologize for my lack of knowledge and the use of the english language....Any help would be much apprecited..Again Thank-you

Please just post the log I requested by using the tutorial I posted in My Post # 2.

You will not to be able to UPGRADE Windows if their is a problem and that log might help us with.

All the chit chat means nothing until we can see that log.

Noel and I are not spring chickens either. Our ages mean nothing when it comes to helping you with your problem.
We need the log.

Now we wait for Noel to take a look at the log.

What I see is you have not activate Windows 7 SP-1 Ultimate and you have some File Mismatch problems.
Noel is the one to help with this. He is always busy so just hang in there.

All I see is the first couple of sections of the report - without the rest, it's useless.
All it tells me is that Windows 7 Ultimate is already installed - and there is no Anytime Upgrade to that.

shovelhead54 could you post that log again.

I'm seeing a triple code box. One code box inside a code box inside a code box.

Another way of saying is, a code box covering up a code box covering up a code box.

Does this help Noel. This is what I see.

As I said earlier - the installed OS is already Windows 7 Ultimate - and no Anytime Upgrade is available for that.
The only available upgrades for it are to Windows 8 Pro or Windows 8.1 Pro.

It is not activated.
What happens when you attempt to activate it? - what exact error code/message do you get?

Please remove your Keys from the post - they are likely to be stolen (the part left in the MGADiag report is OK)

Did you activate the Home Premium before applying the Upgrade?

NOTE: - you need to have downloaded the Home Premium and installed and activated that, before applying the Upgrade.

Yes you have too before the upgrade starts.. Here is another screen shot showing I have never installed updates .. When I was upgrading The box said 135 updates I thought your computer has to be updated before upgraded...I apriciate you still hanging in there..Another thing I have been trying to download net frame work 3.5 and can not do it it dissapears or get error is it normal for things on my desktop if they have a short cut arrow and I copy as pathh it says public desktop.. Here is an update log from $windows~Q always thought that was if you did a install that was like a backup file.. Anyway thankyou..

It's only essential to Activate prior to the upgrade process.
.NET 3.5 is part of Windows 7 - it doesn't need to be downloaded.

There is really no point in attempting to update your current installation until you can get it activated, as you may well have to reformat and reinstall Home Premium again - in fact, that would be my recommendation.

Reformat and reinstall Home Premium - install the chipset drivers to give you a stable internet connection and decent graphics, then activate it, and do the upgrade.

I appreciate your time.. Like I said in first post maybe this would help answer other questions.. Why I have to reinstall all the time..The reason for haveing to get an iso download of windows is because dvd drive wont load certain things.. I have 2 sets of factory hp installation disk ca nt load. One OEM that I purchased cant load..Why I am updated but show no updates installed Why cant I download some files.. Why If I Go to page where shows wether authorized or not it says no and next time will say yes.. Why I cant change the setting so the icon or whatever its called the anytime update shows in start up menu..Why I did a formt after error screen tells me there is no operating system faught erros saying missing a file in partition missing so I could not load windows But I have a $INPLCE~TR and a $wINDOWS~Q file in C:.. I can go on and on..Granted you are 100% correct easier to do reinstall so I have the icon back..I do not know how you feel about the accuracy of silent runners program I will attach a log from them that I just ran.. Another forum told me to run and submit the logs and they would get back.. never heard...Either way THANKYOU...
