Windows anytime upgrade woes

I have bought a windows 7 Ultimate key from a seller on Ebay (The key is legit) but when I enter it into anytime upgrade the message 'The upgrade key you entered is for an edition of Windows that does not work with Windows Anytime Upgrade' occurs. This is after it presents the message 'The upgrade was not successful. Please try the upgrade again. Any help would be appreciated.

Most keys for sale on Ebay are fake / Pirate so I suggest you to make an image of your C: disk on an external disk. Use Macrium Reflect Free Edition https://updates.macrium.com/reflect/v7/ReflectDLHF.exe

The anytime upgrade link on Win 7 is to purchase a license. MS doesn't sell upgrades any more and the link is useless.
As you already have a license, to upgrade the Win 7 HP to Ultimate you must have a Win 7 Ultimate disk. From running win 7 just run Setup and use the key to activate.
If you don't have a Win 7 ultimate key, copy all files and folders from Win 7 HP installation disk to a folder on your computer. Go to \sources and rename ei.cfg to ei.cfg.org.
Run Setup.exe. The installation wizard will ask what version you want to run. Choose Ultimate.

As a quick check on the key, google it - multiple hits will likely mean its non genuine.
My suspicion is that it a not for resale MSDN key which has been blocked

You don't need W7 Ultimate. No one does.

One other thing I noticed in your specs, you have 20 GB mixed memory, W7 HP only supports 16 GB, you need to fix that, install a 4 x 4GB kit, the best you can afford, crucial, kingston etc, no reason to put anything special in that board.
