alright, so i had an issue with deleting a steam folder that was corrupted. after googling a while i learned i should run chkdsk (checkdisk) when you rightclick on your hdd 'properties, under tools tab' etc.

so after that i just rebooted my pc and everything was normal, i could delete the folder. then i got a few windows updates, which i just ran. and rebooted normally. after a while, surfing a bit, then playing a videogame, my computer just crashed with bluescreen.

ever since then i couldnt boot up my pc normally again.
i do manage to get the BIOS screen, then the windows logo 'loading', but then it just gets me a blue screen again.

so the errors on the blue screen im getting is:
ntkrnlpa.exe
0xc0000098

and something along these lines:
STOP: 0x0000007E
(0xFFFFFFFFC000000S , 0xFFFFF88000E0DE3A, 0XFFFFF880009A8B78, 0xFFFFF880009A83D0)
wdf01000.sys - Adress FFFFF88000E0DE3A

it might be worth mentioning i had intel rapid storage techonlogy, which uses an ssd for caching. i thought this was the problem, and removed the ssd but no results.

I've tried some system recovery methods, like the bootup autofixer or system restore point but they failed aswell.

after reading something about MBR: ' bootrec.exe /FixMbr '
(source:How to Fix Windows 7 When It Fails to Boot)
i decided to give that a try.

i managed to get back to my desktop. but everytime i restarted i would just get blue screen again, then had to enter bootrec.exe /fixmbr in the command prompt from the recovery console, everytime.

then i decided to reinstall windows 7. and the installation broke down midway giving me the same error. now im stuck in a cycle where i just enter bios then get the error on startup, and then reboot.
if i try to go safe mode it comes with 'Windows cannot complete the installation in safe mode. to continue installing windows, restart the computer.'

and now i cant even get to recovery console/options anymore.

if i use my 60 gb 'corsair' SSD as HDD i get the same error.
for clarification ive been trying to use an 'seagate' 2 TB HDD first.
i've gotten this pc for only about 1 year....

Try choosing Safe Mode with Command prompt . Log in with your user name and password ( if you have one )

Type in diskpart and press [enter]

It will say
Diskpart>_

Type in list volume and press [enter]

It will generate a list . Locate the drive letter of the USB flash drive

Type exit and press enter

It will say Leaving Diskpart ....

Then type in X:\ and press enter

Type in FRST64.exe and press [enter]

   Note
Replace X with your actual USB drive letter

Once Farbar Recovery Scan Tool opens click on Yes . Make sure the Additional.txt has a check mark next to it and click on the Scan button . Once its done the scan it will create two txt files FRST.txt and Additional.txt inside the USB drive . Upload those two files in your next reply

i've already tried that,
any of the options i listed will bring me to a screen with :

windows failed to start. a recent hardware of software change might be the cause. to fix the problem:
1. insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. choose your language settings, and then click next.
3. click repair your computer.
if you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

file: \windows\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe
status: 0xc00000098
info: windows failed to load because the kernal is missing, or corrupt.

When Win7 won't boot the steps to repair it are here: Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

How did you try to reinstall Win7 if you don't have a bootable installer? Were you attempting Factory Recovery which failed? If you have a partial failed install then there is nothing left to repair - you must complete the install.

Everything needed is provided in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which steps will assure a perfect reinstall. During booted install delete all partitions and create and format New as you wish, or just click Next and the Installer will do it for you.

-Were you attempting Factory Recovery which failed?

i could get to recovery options before, there i used bootrec.exe /fixmbr in the command prompt. afterwards i restarted, my recovery/install cd would load and thats when i decided to reinstall. and then my installation was broken halfway down.

anyways, after i ran the memory test in the guide u mentioned, i found out i had a faulty RAM stick. removed it and now i managed to reinstall. i did have 1 blue screen after the installation, but i think it was because i tried to install too many software at once with only 8 GB ram. now everything seems to work fine.

If one of your memory sticks is bad . Replace both of the sticks . If they're under warranty contact the manufacture and RMA the memory sticks .

With Dual Channel memory you have to replace both sticks even though one stick is bad .

Corsair are good they usually come with a 5yr warranty or a lifetime warranty . I personally liked OCZ but they stopped making memory sticks and are only making SSD drives .

A lot of people like Gskill
