Hey guys gamer1238 here....

Here's a question how can you get windows 7 to boot up fast i've tried the old msconfig trick but really doesnt help me....

Msn, avg and some other programs i'm running at startup dont or shouldnt slow down the boot time that much right??

Also when my computer starts up it is using 1.5Gb of Ram and doesnt drop (I have 4Gb Ram installed but my computer should be using 3.5 but its using 3.25 instead and i dont know why?? please help)... i have a nvidia 9800gx installed does that have anything to do with the ram being at 1.5Gb usage???

thanks in advance guys from Gamer1238

For the ram issue make sure memory remap is enabled in the bios. Also check what is in the startup folder and delete anything you dont need. I recommend CCleaner to help speed up the bootup.

Forgot to mention, Win 7 uses memory differently than Vista/XP it uses as much ram for prefetch as it can get hold of and free's up ram as and when you need it (Games for example)

Try going to services (from search) and see if there are any services that are not needed. Go to task manager and see what appl, etc are using a lot of memory. Deactivate your Anti Virus, see if you get better performance. If your perfomance does improve without the A/V, you may want to change to another. Microsoft Essentials is a good choice. It was created with Windows in mind. Anyway, good luck

You should notice a big boost in speed if you go into Bios and change the boot order to boot to the hard drive first, not the floppy.

That is one of the first things I do on system.
I noticed a large increase in speed.

Don't touch services - that's a myth. In your BIOS, set your hard drive to boot first and disable the second, third, fourth boot entries etc. Then find a setting to load the PCI x16 graphics card first - probably something like init_display. Lastly disable legacy usb support and floppy support.

In Windows, use Autoruns:

technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

and look through the logon tab.

Just go through the options I suggested in your BIOS, then use Autoruns - it lists what runs at startup among 3000 other things.

Yes.If you ever need to boot from your dvd drive then you just go back into BIOS and make the dvd the first boot device.

It really speeds my boot time.
