Hello Sevenforums members.

I have this weird problem with my laptop - i cant browse the internet, nor use any programs or games that require internet connection, however my network its still receiving and sending packages AND i CAN chat and receive/send files with skype . After diagnostic trows the "Can't communicate with Primary DNS Server" error message.I don't have router nor modem, i use cable directly.

Also my other PC witch has 100% identical network settings( IP, Mac address etc. the only difference is that is Windows XP) connects to internet with no problems whatsoever.

Been searching the internet for some way to resolvet the problem all day, so far with no success. If you have any ideas what could be causing the problem please do answer below.
Also if you if you need any additional information - please be specific.

Thanks in advance. :)

When you say you use cable Directly do you mean Via a Cable modem or from a hole in the wall?

If this is the case, I have learned that Cable modems will set up your computer Via the Cable modem with IP from there DHCP and will tend to stick with this.

When you plug into your computer restart the Cable modem.

Also you cant have the same MAC address as every Ethernet card has its own mac address. Hence the Cable modem assigns the IP's Direct via Mac assignment.
