Hello everybody!

I have several issues and annoyances with Windows Explorer. It keeps taking focus switching windows from time to time: let's say I have opened WE and then open another window like after double-clicking on an archive file. After a moment Explorer takes over and gets in front of the other window. Very annoying.

Another issue is when I'm browsing in WE and I have the folder list with the current folder topmost in the left pane and showing all sub-folders, suddenly it drops down and only the 2-3 sub-folders

Also I would want to have the old XP behavior back, that it instantly shows the sub-folders when the focus is on the parent folder.

Is there a way to get rid of these annoyances?

/DM

Hello DM,

Do you use a touchpad? If so, then it may be the sensitivity ot tapping settings that may need adjusting for in the Mouse section in the Control Panel for the touchpad driver settings. It may be to sensitive and allow a click on something to lose focus on what you were working on.

In the navigation pane, you might see if this may be what you are wanting.

Hope this helps,

Hi Shawn

I do use a TP but this happens even when I'm on external mouse and no touching of the pad.

I'll check the links and return with an update regarding them.

EDIT: It solved the third issue partially. In XP when you move throug the folders on the left pane with the keyboard, the right pane followed and you could see the folder's content. This is the behavior I'm after.

Thanks so far.

I'm not sure what else may help with the focus issue, but you can turn on the Preview Pane for this instead in Windows 7. However, it is turned on or off in all Windows Explorer windows and not just certain ones.

Ok Shawn.

Seems that the issue discussed is a "feature" of the new windows environment.

The other problems taking over focus from other windows and the others would be nice to get rid of, It's quite annoying when you're eg writing a letter it suddenly jumps to WE and your typing makes things happen in the file structure...
