Hello , I'm a new member of seven forums , so kindly forgive me if I'm posting this problem on a wrong thread .

Anyway my problem is sometimes my windows explorer crashes when I open a folder & make my whole laptop slow , then the message "Windows explorer is restarting" , after that all the open explorers are gone & the laptop starts working normally.

My knowledge says that the problem is when windows try to create thumbnail of my media files , I know how to stop creating thumbnails but I really need the thumb nails viewing to recognize my file .:geek:

So kindly help me on that to get rid of the "windows explorer crashing" problem.

p.s kindly let me know if anyone want any info about my laptop

Hello Soumya, welcome aboard.

Which codec pack do you use? I am guessing KLite?

Uinistall it totally including the registry leftovers, Using Revo the free version, and then install Shark007's FREE Codec solutions - Windows 7 codecs.

When installation is done, run the program as admin, and check "Shark007 Suggested Settings".

Let us know it it changes the situation or not.

Hello Arc , thanks for info , I'm also using KLite codec pack . I will definitely try your method but in the mean time I would like u to know that it also happens when I try to open a folder with lots of image file . So I'm afraid is this problem is related 2 my codec pack or not .

At first you change the codec pack, then observe it.

If still the problem persists, we may think again. But KLite is a well known victim of this issue.
