After a month of resolving Event Viewer errors, spent the weekend working on OC'ing my son's box, getting plenty of BSOD's in the process :) . Ht a wall at BCLK 180 and while I'm reseraching that, i wanted to address two of my remaining Win7-64 problems which are completely independent of OC. I have profiles saved in the BIOS for:

-Default (All stock, other than correcting memory timings to rated values)
-CPU level Up (BIOS setting which auto OC's to i7-965 speeds)
-BCLK 165 thru BCLK180 in increments of 3

Now set at BCLK 174 for very conservative temps but problem has existed 1st built on 10/22 and didn't OC (other than trying 965 setting) till this weekend. idea was to get rid of all Event Viewer messages using stock speeds. So here's my problems at stock or any other speed.

1. Windows Explorer gets "tired'. Afer system has been running a few hours, opening and closing Windows Explorer, clicking on a partition starts the green line doing across the title bar indicating I presume the pace of it's search of the drive. It gets to midway kinda acceptable and then gets progressively slower. Once it gets to the end where there's an X (like the close window icon) it slows to a glacial pace and system must be restarted to make it go away.

2. Related to the above is by the time the system gets to this state, restarting is a problem. I had the same problem with an XP laptop that I had found a solution to on MSKB and downloaded a patch which solved the problem. Once you hit RESTART or SHUTDOWN, you get the "logging Out" message and that "please wait" rotating circle icon thing that seems to have replaced the hourglass. The latter would be more appropriate cause you could wait an hour and nothing will happen. Doing a hard shutdown results in the inevitable request on bootup to let Windows figure something out which after 15 minutes, it never manages to accomplish anything....then of course there's those inevitable Event Viewer messages which anal people like me get upset about having red and yellow marks in event viewer.

Any suggestions ?
