Solved Windows Failed to restart after updates

What exact performance problems are you still having?

IE11 messes up the gadgets so you can install 8GadgetPack - Gadgets for Windows 8 / 8.1 version 12 or higher which is also made for Win7. A stable Win7-style weather gadget can be downloaded from Msn Weather - Windows 7 Desktop Gadget

Windows Update serious problems are one in a million. There are so many patches now that Win7 OS, software and hardware depend upon to run correctly that I would set them to Automatic and accept every Optional except Bing.

Again, compare the install you have to the perfect install compiled in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 because we know for certain that it is the best install you could have and will stay that way exactly as long as you stick with the tools and methods given. You can adopt many of those without even doing the reinstall.

The only real problem that I am having now is that the computer rarely hangs in IE. I have only had it happen twice so it might be the sites & not the IE. The couple of sites that it has happened on are both Directv sites. Other than that all is working as it should.

Make sure your Flash Player is kept updated.

Click the IE Gear icon and then Add-On's. Disable all but Flash, Silverlight, a Reader helper, and keep an eye that nothing else sneaks in . Then on Search tab select Google and delete and disallow all others. Do this for all other browsers too.

Run the Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware full scans again.

Keep an eye on the logs specified in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 to resolve repeat errors, keep a Clean Boot, check for Problems and Solutions. If you feel energetic, work through the other steps which show you how to go over your install most thoroughly.

I just don't see any reason to use a bloated AV (meaning, I suppose, a paid AV) since MSE works fine for those who don't get serially infected. On my installs that keep getting infected I always suggest adding Malwarebtyes paid version and not one ever got infected again. Simple. Free or cheap. Works best with Win7 assuring perfect performance.
Yes well each to his own I have been with Kaspersky for five years and never had a serious infection and I use MBAM and SAS as well to keep the minor stuff at bay and at $0.035 a day I get peace of mind even if it is only for the safe money feature which I have not seen on any other AV.
I think my reasons are born out by the comparison sites as Kaspersky is always at or very nearly at the top of the ratings.
But like I said each to his own.;)

Not to my knowledge. But many consider it an inferior search engine to Google so I hide its Window Updates, allow only Google into the stable search box in each browser I use.

However as it says in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 Google is pernicious spyware if you install anything from it or stay signed into its sites including Youtube. So I limit it to non-Chrome browser Search boxes which block it from spying.

Yep I don't like it either and usually delete it and I would go with Greg's suggestion.
