Hello,
Lately, my desktop pc has been shutting itself off after I leave it running for a while, usually when I leave it unattended. On booting up again, I keep getting "windows has recovered from a serious error.

I did sfc /scannow, and it didn't find anything. I'll try to get a screenshot of the error next time it happens. I saved the .dmp file, but it won't upload it here

Potentially related, I recently swapped out my wifi dongle that died for a netgear wna3100, and on bootup, I occasionally have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to work.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Karl

Hi Karlbr-

Are you getting a BSOD or is it just shutting down?

If it's shutting down, oftentimes that's because the CPU is overheating. Might make sure the vents on your system are clean, as well as all the fans, and make sure the fans are all running. You could download HWMonitor to check the temperatures.

If you're getting a BSOD, follow the instructions for in the BSOD section of the forum to upload the necessary files in .zip format.
