Dell Inspiron 14R, Core i5, 2.53 GHz Processor
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
4GB RAM, 500 GB HDD

I have added all the required folders to the indexing service in windows. Have rebuilt the index several times, and each time approx only 500-600 files are indexed, when i know i definitely have more than 60000 files in the folders that i have indexed!

I am unable to search anything in the windows box. Help!

Thanks in advance,
Prahar

No answer but a question. How do you know only 500-600 files have been indexed?

you go to indexing options in windows. It tells you how many files have been indexed. I think I may have found the cause to this problem, but not a solution.

McAfee and windows 7 have some compatibility issue. If u uninstall McAfee, it indexes fine.

Is there anyway to make it work fine with McAfee?

Ah, okay, thanks. I'd been there before but never noticed the number of files at the top.

Why not leave McAfee uninstalled? Also download and run the McAfee Removal Tool. Then install Microsoft Security Essentials and make sure the built-in Windows Firewall is enabled (Control Panel / Windows Firewall)
