I am not sure to what degree this problem can be solved. I have written to ASUS and have yet to receive a reply so I thought I'd try here.
MB: ASUS P7P55D-E LX
Audio card: ASUS Xonar DG

Asus AUdio Software: Xonar DG Audio Center
I plugged the front panel cables to the Sound card and went to my BIOS to disable the on-board one.
Now upon reboot the computer, therefore the sound card, chooses to go by default to earphones. This means that I have to manually (via the Audio Center) change it each and every time so I could hear my external speakers.
Does anyone know if anything can be done about this (and how)?
Thanks

There should be a way somehow in your audio center to select it to use the speakers as default audio output device. Try checking there if u have not already and see if there is any way of doing that. If not post back again.

Also have a pretty bad speaker setup which is a klipsch promedia 5.1 surround speaker setup with huge subwoofer and lg blu ray player/writer. Also a hp officejet pro 8600 plus wireless all in one and a logitech s7500 webcam.
yup had done that and looked all over. Odd, isn't it?
See attached photo. There is nowhere to save settings or much else for that matter. The thing is, what I asked myself, is what is making it do that? If anything the default should be the speakers, not the headphones.
