Sorry Alireza,

Windows Live does not support passwords more than 16 characters. Unfortunately, we are not affiliated with them in any way, so we can't contact them better than you can.

However, 16 characters should be plenty strong enough. Just be careful to include numbers, lower and uppercase letters, special symbols (like $ and *), and NO DICTIONARY WORDS!

I can understand your confusion.

According to this site: http://www.lockdown.co.uk/?pg=combi

An 8 character password using Upper and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols would take 83 days to crack using supercomputers.

I can't imagine how long a 16 character password using those characters would take to crack. :geek:

I'm sure this won't help anyone, but I made up a website using the Windows Live deal. I got it free for purchasing Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate [$700.00]. After making up the website which took me several days of constant work, I was never again able to login at Windows Live, which was required to access the site, and ended up having to abandon the site because nobody could help me with support. Needless to say, I'm more than unimpressed with Windows Live!

Most hacking is done when passwords are leaked, not by brute-force anyway.

Now if you change that password every 3 months, you can consider yourself very safe.

No, you don't need to change it at all. I'm just saying, if a supercomputer were to start brute-forcing your password today, on average, it would take it almost 3 months.

Now if you change your password before then, on average, you will reset that period.

I understand.

It is that way for all users, including myself. The Microsoft sites simply do not support passwords over 16 characters.

In addition, even if you have a laptop, you should not leave it unattended. Use a random assortment of 12 numbers and letters, it will not be possible to figure it out in the short time that the computer is not in your possession.
