I am using windows live mail and I have created folders so I can move messages to them. I thought the messages would then always be there but I keep losing messages out of those files. Do I lose them because I have deleted them from the trash folder or what am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Which email service are you using? Yahoo, Outlook, etc?
You get a message, it goes to inbox. Step by step, what do you do next?

I am not really sure. I was using windows outlook express and then was told to change to windows live mail. When I get a message I want to put in a folder, let's say it is in regards to a trip to Europe, I create a folder called Europe. Then I bring up the email message, right click on the sender and go to move to folder which brings up a window with all of the folders and then double click on the folder, in this case Europe. The message then goes to that folder. I have done that with many messages that I have received over the years and moved them to specific folders. Now when I go back to one of those folders many of those messages (older) are no longer there and I can not find them anywhere else.

That sounds like it is being caused by your email service. You might want to try a new email service.
Gmail would be a good choice

What I found on a thread back in 2013 was how to save them into a new folder that I created on my desktop. Problem solved.
