Hi all,

One day, for no apparent reason, my Windows Live Mail decided it wouldn't start no matter what I did. After searching this and other resources, and trying the suggested solutions, I finally came up with my own. This is what worked for me, hope it helps someone else:

1. I had a look at the log files, located here: C:\Users\(MY-USERNAME)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WLSetup\Logs

They all seemed to start OK but then hang at the same place. The last line in the log file said "Cert :00000900 (06/29/2012 20:12:10.094) Verifying signature of file=[C:\Users\__USERNAME__\AppData\Local\Windows Live\.cache\LOO5rDp5hbmHg5sboPPgQ2mUlhc=]..."

2. So I deleted the whole C:\Users\(MY-USERNAME)\AppData\Local\Windows Live\.cache folder. Restarted my PC and tried once more. Live Mail was "Live" again!

I realize this thread is very old - however this morning I began experiencing a similar problem with WLM on my Windows 7 64-bit system.

WLM opened the first time, but when I tried to open it again nothing happened and I could not get it to start. A Google search for this issue returned a number of links - however this one was marked "SOLVED" so I came here first.

I followed the stops provided by vaelico, and am happy to report it worked for me as well and solved the problem - and WLM now opens faster than ever.

I do have one thing to add though.

After deleting the log files, rebooting my system and running WLM, I decided to try an experiment and restored those files from the recycle bin. To my surprise, WLM continued to run normally, and is still doing so with those files having been restored.

That being the case, I'm thinking the problem might have been caused by a hangup between the WLM exe program and those files - and by deleting them, even temporarily, it broke the hangup.

Really appreciate that Seven Forums maintains these threads, because they are still helpful years later.

Had this problem recently. I tried the above recommended solution to no avail then simply restored to a recent date before the problem occurred. Windows Live came back on as normal.
