Windows Live Messenger StartUp Issue

Hi there, im using Windows 7 x64 and i recently installed windows live messenger 2011 (15.4.3555.308). My problem is that even if i have the "start messenger on computer startup" box ticked it still doesn't start when i log into windows. I checked the startup tab on msconfig and i can see it there by the way. When i try to start it manualy it starts with no problem and it connets fast, my only problem is that it's not starting my my windows start up. I tried reintalling it but nothing changed. Any suggestions??

Hello Sek7oR, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if placing or creating a shortcut of the file below in your Startup folder in the Start Menu instead may work better or not.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe

Uninstall windowd live and re-install might do the trick also

The Startup folder in the Start Menu didn't work... I've also tried re-intalling but still nothing.. any more ideas?

do you have the app called http://www.msgplus.net/ messenger plus installed by any chance?

No i haven't just the version of the windows live messenger i'm writting on the 1st post.

you could try creating a new user account to test if it starts up on start up.

I've just tried creating a new Account on my PC but nothing seems to have changed.. messenger is still not starting on windows startup.. :/

this is very strange. do you have ccleaner installed? have you deleted the start entry of WLM from there?

No i've never used CCleaner either.. it's the first time that it's happening to me as well, i'm using the same version of messenger on this platform for more than a year. Before four days i did a format on my disk and when i intalled messenger back through windows live essentials it just didn't start on windows startup.. :S

okay. do you have just the messenger or other features installed too? like live mail, photo viewer etc. ?

I used to have them now i uninstalled everything else and i just installed messenger back but its still not starting on windows start up... :/

do you have a restore point before you installed msn messenger?

please post a snip of your msconfig startup tab. expand the command bar for a full view also expand the location bar (which shows the location of registry)

You could add the program to the Run section of the registry.

For all users:
