Hey everyone,

I recently bought a Samsung 850 EVO SSD (500GB) to upgrade my 2 year-old machine with. I've tried to migrate Windows to the SSD ever since I installed, first by hand (messing with cloning and EasyBCD), but when that didn't work out, I bought a copy of "Paragon Migrate OS to SSD". This worked like a charm, and I could boot into my SSD. However, booting into Windows 7 on the SSD gives me the old familiar black background, and the pop-up "Windows 7 Home Premium could not be activated with the submitted product key" [paraphrased, as it's a translation]. I get the option to submit a different product key, and when I entered mine, it told me that "a problem has occured during activation" with the errorcode 0x00C4E003. Googling this error tells me that this code means the product key is already in use.

Running MDADiag gives me the following report:

Apologies for the Dutch report. The License entry reads "gemeld dat Windows niet legitiem is", which roughly means "reported that Windows is not legitimate/genuine".
I've done some previous research on these forums, and I found that this entry is not as it should be [Edit: at least, I think so?]:
Code:
BIOS valid for OA 2.0: yes, but no SLIC table

I have, however, not touched my motherboard at all, aside from plugging in the SSD. Do I need to connect my SSD to the motherboard using the SATA port my old HDD was connected to (and still is)?

Any other ideas on what I could do? Thank you in advance.

From what I see so far.

1. Custom built computer, which to me means a after market retail motherboard.
2. You don't post what motherboard is in use.
3. This also indicated a retail motherboard. From your log.

<Manufacturer>To Be Filled By O.E.M.</Manufacturer>
4.

From your log.

Windows License Type: OEM SLP

OEM/SLP is only used on computers that come from the factory with a pre-installed
Windows 7 and can only be used on such system.

Please let us know exactly what motherboard is installed.

Hey there,
I've updated my specs with my motherboard, couldn't find the name when I was filling in the details.
I've had this PC built by a retailer in my area, he custom builds several standard sets. The PC came with Windows 7 installed when I bought it.
Do you need any more information regarding the motherboard? How significant is the fact whether the motherboard is retail?

What else I found from your log.

Windows Product ID: 00359-OEM-8992687-00006
This product ID is for for this

**Win 7,Home Premium,ACER/GATEWAY/PACKARD,XXXXX-OEM-8992687-00006**

Not for a Asrock aftermarket motherboard.

All that indicates you have a counterfeit installation of Windows 7 on the computer.

Is their one of these on your computer?

Dreading the answer to this one, but no, there's no such sticker on the case or the documents I got with the PC. I was under the impression, however, that this was because of the fact that the PC was custom built.
If this copy of Windows 7 is counterfeit, why was it able to download updates and such up until this point?

I don't know why you can get updates.
All I see is a counterfeit installation of Windows 7.

All builds using Windows 7 are suppose to have one of those stickers, either on the computer case or with the paper work from the builder.

It's a easy problem to solve. Just buy a proper legal copy of Windows 7 with the proper COA key and install it.

Window 7 Home Premium should cost about $100.00. USD

Installing the SSD obviously broke the hack that was in place previously, a dummy slic entry.
i suspect you can check by booting your system using your old HDD, rerun the tool and look at the very last (new) line
possibly slic-acer.
Thats why you got updates

Go back to your retailer tell him to compensate you, as he sold you a counterfiet product
