Windows not genuine?? HELP!

I Installed Windows 7 Ultimate. It was fine up until this morning. No idea what happened now i have a blank desktop and im getting several different errors saying my windows isnt genuine. However I installed from a genuine disk with a genuine license. Is there a way to get my desktop back and get rid of these errors. email me with any help thanks. If you go to the link BareFootKid its not a crack, its a program from the Microsoft site to fix this issue since many people have it when upgrading.

I tried the calling thing and they said i have to buy it again because i dont have my receipt and i paid in cash. FML. And Terrorz I tired your fix and It again wants me to re-buy windows. Again saying the it is a not genuine version.

Where did you buy it? Get a receipt from the seller. If you bought from an individual, you may have been given a worthless DVD.

I was a marine deployed to Japan about 4 months ago. I bought it from the electronics section from the local PX. And no Its not a cracked or hacked windows. It was a legit buy from my PX.

I actually talk to a person. I read the license off to them and they said the license is legit. And couldnt help me as to why I have the blank desktop and the 'not genuine' errors. Told me It may of been installed off a ripped DVD which It wasnt. I have the disk still.

and well they wernt much help told me I should send it to them for like 50$ and have them take a look... I was reading I can do a regedit to kind of backdoor the system. anyone know how i could do that??

I've read that some versions from other countries cannot be activated outside of the country of purchase, just last week I saw a thread from a person in India that said he was having the same issue getting his Windows 7 purchased in India to activate in different country.

THere are no worries now if MS says the key is legit. Customer service will open a case for you to get it activated correctly if necessary based on that finding.

First, try running the DVD from the desktop to do a Repair install (Upgrade over itself) which completely refreshes activation so you can reinstall the key afterwards.

If this fails, then you will need to make the phone call again and get a case opened by Customer Service which will enable Tech Support to walk you through the steps for reinstalling or otherwise fixing this.

MS tech support taught me a good deal of what I have learned. Their company policy is to work through to a solution with any cooperative customer, even elevating to research team if necessary. You can learn a lot, it's included with the price of the product and sometimes can even be more valuable.

That did it!!! I've been haggling over this for a couple days now, thought it was brought on by the AVG deal a couple days ago. I found out I had apparently not activated 7 on this new laptop yet (whoops) but got an error from Asus every time I tried to activate. That genuine software download tool from MS did the trick. I now show my status as activated with the proper product key. Thanks for the post, it has solved my issue.
