Solved Windows.old refuses to delete

I don't know where this belongs, since I signed up just to post this problem, really.

Most methods I try result in failure to delete this folder. Manually recycling says I need permission, and when I allow it permission, the process hangs up. When I attempt to use Lock Hunter, it tells me "Cannot delete this file!" Disk Cleanup hangs up on "Scanning Previous Windows Installations" if I put Windows.old in the C:/ drive. If I take it out, it doesn't show the option to remove previous windows installations. I've given ownership to myself and everything mentioned above still happens.
I can't operate the system, since my computer BSOD's after about five minutes of searching the internet with it, which was the main reason I clean installed it anyways.

I am running on an Asus x54l with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

You did not choose to do a custom install and you did not format your installation partition when you installed windows to it. I would re install windows and make sure you choose custom and format your C partition.

I've yet to try the elevated command prompt. I'll try to do it when I get back to the computer.
The main reason I haven't tried that is because I don't know how to specify where the folder is in cmd if it's in the desktop

But did you format the install partition ?

You would move the windows.old back to the root of C:\, You can right click it, Properties/Restore default Location, or manually move it.

To better help us to help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's the correct way to do it. :SystemInfo See Your System Specs Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built. Very important

Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.

After doing this your specs will be available in each of your posts.
Click on My system Specs in the lower left of this post to see how it should look.

I can't launch the spec program because I don't have net framework. Is there another way to find the specs?

Update: I cannot delete windows.old because of multiple errors during the command prompt: Access is denied, directory is not empty, file is being used by another program

I don't know how it happened, but Disk Cleanup seems to work now. If it finishes I'll say so.

I might be being impatient here, but Disk Cleanup seems to hang up while cleaning the previous windows installations

You can use Speccy - System Information - Free Download to get most of your specs, neither will show your PSU specs though. Run Windows Update, you should have had the .NET framework(s).

The .old folder is probably very big and cleanup will take a few minutes.
