Try this. Open a webpage with links on it. Drag the corners until the page is maximized (don't use the maximize in upper right corner).

Choose a link on that webpage you opened, and right click that link, and choose open in a new window.

Drag the corners on that second window until the page is maximized (don't use the maximize in upper right corner).

Close the first window using the X in upper right corner. Now close the second window.

See if that doesn't work. If not, repeat the above, but when closing both windows, hold Ctrl and Shift keys while clicking the X. A Guy

Technically it isn't IE doing it - window positioning is handled by the shell window manager as long as the application does not specify window size/position during it's init (and IE does not). That leaves the binary registry data for the BagMRU settings in the shell doing it. When you click and drag the borders of a window (unless it's a specific type of .net window) you aren't actually interacting with that application at all, you're interacting wholly with the shell (explorer).
