Solved Windows scans disk

I have just one simple question out of this story. To be brief, I turned on my computer and went back to do other things while it was - I assumed - booting up. I came back to find it "checking file systems on C". Type of file NTFS. Volume label OS. It went through the long process and corrections seem to have centered around file 24101. I did Google several terms and one said it was Apache server. Once it finished, it booted up in the normal way and everything seems to be working fine.

If you need more information, I will try to give it. I did copy a lot but it is terribly long and I am suspecting knowledgeable people already know what took place.

My simple question: Can I now relax knowing the system is in good working order? Or am I going to be having issues that say I need a new computer which I do not want.

How much can I relax here? Thank you.

I believe your system should just be fine. it sounds like apparently; your system may have been shut down improperly; or; some files got a bit corrupted and windows took action by itself to correct those problem areas by scanning and fixing the bad file areas. Just always remember to make sure you properly shut down windows the right way by start, then shut down. That way you dont end up corrupting files etc.

Thank you. I did shut down properly at the end of the day. However, earlier I did shut down improperly. There is a newspaper web site that invariably brings down my computer when it runs a video and the only way I can get out is to manually turn off the CPU.

So that was it. I have unsubscribed their newsletter and shall avoid that particular site. hereafter.

Good to know that I can rest easy. The computer fixed itself. I'll never get used to that - machinery fixing itself. But then, a computer isn't just "machinery" is it?

Well I would worry.
Windows 7 does not fix itself without being instructed to.
What security programs do you use?

Any time my computers do things I did not instruct them to do I worry.

The news paper site just might of loaded all kinds of garbage on your computer.

I won't say "I disagree" since I am totally ignorant about how computers work but I've had things happen that makes me think it can fix some things. Whenever I shut down wrong and then reboot soon after, I get this message saying it had shut down wrong. It then gives me three choices of things I can do. If I do nothing, it starts after a given number of seconds and goes through a process that is over my head but I'm soon back in business.

As I said, that may or may not mean anything. Just saying it is doing something without me telling it to. That is also what it did this morning. I was not even aware it was doing this. When I came back and found it, it was already 55% finished and telling me step by step what it was doing - from scanning to fixing to reconnecting to recovering files.
